Went to see mother fucking Dethklok and Mastodon yesterday night.
Played hookey, hung out with boyfriend and friends all day, watched movies, and then took a 2 1/2 hour drive down to Filmore Detriot to wait in line for another hour before getting strip searched just to get in the theatre.
Despite the fact that this was a heavy metal concert, people were forced to remove the chains from their clothing (with whatever means possible) and throw them away. After being patted down, the guard was about to let me inside before a very fat black woman (another guard) walked up and was all angry and yelled "No! Take off her jacket!" as if I looked like a terrorist to her or something. Needless to say, I had to remove some layers in the 30-40 degree weather and get my breasts and crotch felt up. They did this to everyone in the line - witch was about 3 blocks long.
It was all worth it though. The opening bands High on Fire, and Converge sucked titanic ass. The lead singer to Converge ran around the stage for every song, and literally vomited into the microphone. Thats really all of their songs were.
Mastodon blew away my expectations. The visuals were mother fucking amazing, and their encore nearly made me shit myself. They definitely sound better live.
As for Dethklok... I head banged so hard during that shit, my neck can't support my head right now. I am so sore, and god help me if I tilt my head down.
I also have a stie in my eye, or however you spell it. Basically a little bump that grows on the inside of your eyelid and hurts like a mother fucker.
I got a t-shirt too. ^^
Though I am a little pissed off because I know for a fact that Hot topic is going to sell the same shirt a week from now (for 20$ more) and every middle schooler that watches the show will get one.
Oh well. I had a fucking blast.
